The Sinking Festival

The Gangasagar festival attracts 3 million pilgrims each year; but it is under threat from rising sea levels. The main temple where pilgrims come to pray has already been moved several times to avoid being submerged, and nearby islands have already disappeared underwater. The Sundarbans, a delta of tiny islands nestled between India and Bangladesh, is one of the most vulnerable regions in the world to climate change. Experts predict that if current trends of global warming continue, most of the region will be underwater by the end of the century, displacing millions.
