The Last Gaddi

The Gaddi are a tribe living in the Himalayan foothills of northern India. Traditionally semi-nomadic sheep herders, for centuries they travelled between settlements with their flocks in search of new grazing pastures as the mountain snow melted each summer. Now however, that lifestyle is under threat; whereas once over 90% of Gaddi were shepherds, now only a few remain. Faced with an influx of tourism and beginning to feel the effects of climate change, the area has undergone intense change and with it, the Gaddi way of life is being redefined. Will this be the last generation of shepherds?
